The Daredevils Should be the Favourites

May 22nd, 2009 by kapoor

We are on the verge of the first semi-final of IPL II and the Daredevils, as predicted by many, have literally marathoned themselves into the semis. It is being said that all the four semi-finalists have an equally opportunity to win and given the T20 format that does seem to be true. However, as far as the Delhi Daredevil versus the DC match is concerned, I sincerely feel that the Delhi boys have the advantage due to their bowling strength. The fact is that Gilchrist and his men haven’t really set the tournament on fire with any batting heroics so far.

Further, the Delhi bowling could be really restricting with nearly three left-arm seam options and the spin of Mishra, along with a very dependable Rajat Bhatia. Now, with Sehewag too finding form, he may be seen bowling his off-spinners along with Dilshan and this makes them the most balanced bowling side. Yes, the number of left-armers is a bit exaggerated but then they are all bowling well and most right-handers are finding it hard to score against them.

It’s true that DDD are/were favorites…But Gilly looks in a rush to finish this 1st Semi-Final off in 10 overs….Or less, for that matter :-)

    We will find out…
