Royal Challengers Could Use a Batting Shuffle
May 23rd, 2009 by punterSo the Royal Challengers from Bangalore have somehow managed to reach the semis of IPL2009 and now it is up to them to try and outthink their opponents to ensure a victory. I personally believe that the team needs to try and think beyond the realm of the usual right now. Dhoni’s bowlers would be training their line and length against a specific kind of top order that the Royal Challengers had been fielding till now.
It could be worth the risk to try and send in players like Boucher or Virat Kohli up the order, just to make things difficult for rival bowlers and ensure that the run-rate does not dip in the 10 to 15 over mark — something that has happened a bit too often with the Bangalore Team. Also, when bowling, it might be good to keep Kallis towards the end of the innings, since he is adept at bowling those yorkers and not repeatedly depending on Praveen Kumar whose thinking pattern would be well known to Dhoni.
