Sri Lanka is PLAYING Cricket

June 12th, 2009 by writeman

With so many matches being played, cricket could become like any other boring job for the regulars in the team. The fun factor would be seriously missing then. This is what has started happening with the Indian team. Cricketers PLAY when they have fun in the game. Sri Lanka is having a lot of fun out there. Jayasuriya’s age defying knocks, Dilshan’s delectable shots, Murali and Mendis’ guile, and Angelo Matthews’ inspiring fielding all point in that direction.

Dilshan’s special – the back flip over the wicket keeper’s head is a unique shot. When a batsman plays such shots, he sees the cricket ball like a football and has perfect control over shot selection, timing, and body positioning. The interesting fact is: very few batsmen have played this shot. This is probably Dilshan’s creation. Dilshan is good at playing all types of cricketing shots and score runs at will. The back flip is just a delectable option in his repertoire of shot making.

Dilshan is playing this unique shot in every match and it is one of the delightful reasons to watch the Sri Lankans play. They give their 100% and it was evident from their win over Pakistan. Sri Lanka seems like a potent side with a balanced combination of good bowlers and batsmen. Ajantha Mendis and Muralitharan spearhead their spin attack. Even their fielding is inspiring. Angelo Matthews set an example of good fielding at the boundary in one match.

Sri Lankan cricket fans shouldn’t mind whether their team loses or wins. They are PLAYING cricket and that’s what matters.
