Ashes Day 2-3: English Bowlers are Clueless
July 11th, 2009 by kapoorAndrew Strauss would have believed that the pitch at Cardiff would provide some degree of assistance to his bowlers. To be honest, the pitch was not that great for swing bowling, something his bowlers must have been looking forward too but then these were still English conditions. The entire bowling from England was somehow focussed on simply peppering the batsmen with the short stuff and the plan has been an absolute failure. They need to be reminded that when they turned around things in 2005, it was line and length bowling along with some reverse swing that helped them win the Ashes and not trying to hit the jaw of the batsmen with each delivery. The Aussies are piling upon the runs and unless the rain continues to pour upon the ground, it looks certain that England just cannot escape losing this match. What was Flintoff exactly trying to do, bowling at 90 miles per hour, so wide outside the off-stump, with balls pitched so short than even a 10-foot monster would have been able to duck under them?
