SOS keeper who can bat
January 13th, 2010 by googlyprabhakarThe Indian team will pretty soon require a good wicketkeeper batsman. No, guys don’t be shocked. As you can see from all by blogs ( way before everyone I had predicted Dhoni to be a fighter par excellence) I am perhaps the biggest fan of Dhoni. The thing is that by this year end he would also be become the most reliable in this Indian lineup in all the forms of the game. This would mean that someone else will be needed to keep , at least in some of the formats. With Dhoni playing purely as a batsman, Yuvraj Singh’s place will be in jeopardy , by this year end, in the test line up. Virat Kohli too will soon fizzle out with his technique being found wanting by this year end.

Hey my prediction has already come true!!! Dhoni is already injured and out of the first test- courtesy the ‘back’ breaking work load that he has to take. I had also mentioned that he is on the way to becoming the most reliable batsman in the Indian line up. That has also come true. With him chances are that Indian lower order would have fought back better. So, two of my predictions are already on the way to becoming realities. The next one is that of Kohli fizzing away by the end of this year, either due to his technique or a tiff with a senior player. It will become a reality , sooner than later. Manish Pandey would be a better bet than Kohli any day.
