Australia-India Cricket: Aussie Summer 2007.
December 14th, 2007 by prashantHopefully this turns out to be a series to savor for years if not decades to come. I always feel that whenever India-Australia plays (either ODIs, T20 or Test) against each other, it invariably generates quality Cricket.
Here are the first few newslets/jabs:
Kumble says that India has the batting lineup to put up big totals against Australia and have enough bowling to take 20 wickets.
Ganguly says that India would not be intimidated by the Aussies.
Glen McGrath would like Aussies to have a go at the Indian line-up with 4-men pace attack, comprising of Bret Lee, Stuart Clarke, Mitchell Johnson and ShaunTait and forget picking a spinner.
That would be interesting and gives an idea as to what the Aussie approach would be. Only if Sreesanth was visiting with the Indians, it would have added more spice to an already “hot” situation.
Stay tuned. I am sure more verbal stuff would follow as we get closer to “Boxing” day

Here is one more from Bhajji:
“Brad Hogg is not close to the class of Warne and MacGill”. “If they play Hoggy, I will wish him all the best because I have nothing against him, but I would be happy to see him bowl at our batsmen.”

Here’s more from The Man, Kumble:

“We did extremely well in the last test series, so it’s going to be very crucial for all of us.”
Interesting times ahead. Winning or losing is besides the point, I just hope we fight well and winning would come…

I really think that currently India is in the best position possible to take on the Aussies. First of all, it did have success against them in the T20 WC, won a couple of close ODIs and have shown mental strength to take on the current Cricketing giant.
The other thing that should favor India is that they have nothing to lose here. Recently, India has won the ODI series against South Africa, Test series in England and both Test and ODI against Pakistan. It has a new Captain who is a fighter, it’s batsmen are in form and the bowling attack performs better in responsive conditions.
All in all it definitely promises to be a thrilling series.

Dada: “We are the only team in the world that’s done well against Australia home and away over the last five to six years. We all know they are a good side but we also have the side to beat them”
Sachin: “Winning a series in Australia would be a career highlight”.
