Tendulkar’s Message for Hogg before Ind-Aus Cricket Test Series
December 24th, 2007 by marauderHogg had scalped the priced wicket of Tendulkar in one of the recently concluded ODI series that took place between India & Australia in Hyderabad. At the end of it all, Hogg had taken a photograph of that dismissal and had requested Sachin Tendulkar to sign it. Sachin signed it, and left a note to Hogg saying “This will never happen again, Hoggy”.
Well one should be surprised if Hoggy says he’s got butterflies all over his stomach after that incident. Quite differently, he says he is all set to take up this challenge. Isn’t the match perfectly set now ?..Hogg will give it his best shot to prove the master wrong, and Sachin would do all it takes to defend his wicket against the inspiring Hoggy. Its gonna be a contest that is really gonna be worth watching . Good luck Sachin and Good luck Hoggy. Do you guys think Sachin can live upto the challenge ? I believe Hoggy might prove Sachin wrong

Well, it takes just one ball to get a batsman out. The batsman might hit the bowler for 6 fours in an over, but the bowler can have the last laugh if he gets the batsman out on the first ball of the next over. So such a contest is highly loaded in the favour of the bowler. Hogg is a very good bowler, I think much better than MacGill. I was hoping that MacGill (and not Hogg) play in the first test. Hogg’s chinaman googly is very difficult to read.
It seems to me that Sachin wrote that comment in a lighter vein. Of course he will try his best to not get out to Hogg, and after that comment I am sure Hogg will try his best to get Sachin out again. It will indeed be an interesting contest. But even I wont be surprised if Hogg gets Sachin. I think Hogg is a world class bowler.. and his different bowling style (left arm wrist spin, or teh chinaman) helps!

Well i do agree, it will not be a surprise if Hogg claims Sachin’s wicket. Sachin should be aware of this, and still he goes onto write something like that, ofcourse demands a lot of confidence. Maybe Sachin is so confident of not losing his wicket to Hogg. Well nothing is impossible, and lets hope the master batsman can live up to this challenge that is heavily loaded in favor of Hogg.

Hogg was smashed all round the park by Sachin today. Sachin has lived upto his word in this innings, i wonder how long he can keep this going ?

Yeah.. lets see what happens in the second inning. And I do not think Hogg will play too many matches in this series. After seeing India’s performance against fast bowling, Ponting would probably go in with a 4 pronged pace attack in the next match.

Sachin did not even get a chance to have a go at Hogg in the second innings. Got out to Lee while trying to force the pace.

Lee laid the trap, Sachin gracefully fell into his trap in the second innings. Poor Hogg never really got an opportunity to win a small accolade. There are three more test matches to go, and effectively 6 innings to play. Hogg will definitely get his chance, let us wait and watch !!

It’s curtains for Hogg and Sachin is still going strong, just like an Energizer bunny. In this series so far, Indians have caused 2 of Australia’s potential wicket-taking/aggressive bowlers to either take retirement (Hogg) or indefinite pause (Tait)
