What’s all this hype about ?
March 7th, 2008 by marauderYeah it indeed was a mind boggling achievement for the Indian cricket team. They played better cricket, and deserved to beat the Aussies. The Australlian side is definitely staring down the barrels and are definitely missing McGrath & Warne. Now with Gilchrist out of the team, the prospects looks very bleak. But we all know what the Australlians are capable of, and they will come up with something special as they always do.
Lets not forget, the Australlians are not losing this series for the first time. Last year they lost to England 2-0. Which clearly goes to show the Australlians are no more the invincible champions they used to be. So India beating Australlia is fine, but i guess what’s been done after the victory is a lil too much than what it should ideally be.
I heard Harbhajan saying it was HIM vs The Entire Australlian Team. Well if one sits down and works out what harbhajan managed to do for the whole series, one would realise he’s been at his disappointing worst. He never was a problem to the Australlian batsman. The only exception was the first finals. If i remember right, he just managed 8 wickes out of the 10 matches he’s played. And in the test matches not one 5 wicket haul against his name. I doubt if he’s just trying to act too smart. No wonder why Hayden called him an obnoxious weed !!
Lets not forget its just a tri series that India has won, and it isnt the world cup. Let us also not forget the England team which can hardly win matches won last year. This goes to show, Australlians have slumped in form and thats the main reason why they lost. Its better for the Indian team to stop making a big scene of this, and carry on the good work and focus more on the matches to come

Marauder, you bring up a few good points. In fact, I was precisely thinking about the same thing. The Aussies lost the CB series to England and then went on to crush everyone and win the World Cup without losing a single match. So, one who knows a little history will never write them off.
Coming to the celebrations, Indians always tend to go over the board with their emotions, at least most do. Especially, this series victory has come after 20+ years. So, it was much needed to boost the morale of youngsters in the team.
As far as Harbhajan is concerned, he is entitled to say what he wants, as long as he justifies it on field. If not, it’s better to keep quiet. I remember Symonds issuing a lot of statements during the series against India when they toured, but he was justifying everything with his great form with the bat. So, someone should tell Harbhajan that what he has done is noway near his best and that he needs to kick himself and start working harder.

@Kris : Thanks mate
One must confess that the Australlian side is nowhere near to their best now. But yeah, they will come back strongly. Nobody knows how, but they sure will !!!
Celebrations overboard is India’s problem. Well if they can curtail that to a certain extent, i believe its time to be ready for more better things to come.
Harbhajan Singh isn’t a one year old baby to expect someone to tell him that he’s not performing well. Its time realises that on his own, and gets going. Well if he thinks he can talk this way and carry on, i guess there’s just one way he is heading and thats straight back to his home and nowhere else

Whenever India wins praises are thrown at them , lakhs and and lakhs of tax payer’s money simply given away by the BCCI money we worked are brains off earning which in the end simply land up in the pockets for the cricketers, not to mention some players got pieces of land for free! and why for winning 2 matches in Australia. If you analyze the situation carefully, Australia was far from full strength. NO Justin Langer, Damien Martyn, Glen Mcgrath, Shane Warne for the test squad. No doubt India played well hats off for such a gutsy performance, but its time to move on. We must also remember that that the team that played in the 4 test’s was virtually the same that played 7 O.D.I’s in India and 2 tests later against S.Lanka. The middle order failed miserabally, probably for the same reason. Later on the team that failed in the finals, again same team entire top to middle order unchanged apart from Hopes. Not to mention a 36 yr old tired Gilchrist. The Sydney news herald was quoted saying Lee looked like a parent of a new born child

tax payer’s money?? No no .. its absolutely not the tax payer’s money that BCCI is giving to the players. It is giving its own money that it earned as a business enterprise! Any gift given by the state/union government is the tax payer’s money.
Not to say that I agree with all the things that BCCI does! Indians go overboard with their celebrations… the same way we go overboard with the criticisms!
And Lee looked like a parent? Woah… I wish all parents bowled the way he did! This was his finest series as a bowler. I have never seen him bowl so well before!

@anshu_23: Thats indeed very well said. Australians are a depleted lot, and India is no wonder a well equipped young side. But there’s lot more to achieve, and this is by no means the end of it for India. The question is if they can hold onto this winning streak, if they do yeah they deserve every bit of this accolades
@jatanr : wel anshu i guess waz referring to the land given by the state/union government. wel if thats what she refers, then yeah its tax payers money. well which i believe is not fair in any sense

Thank you @marauder for making my point clear,,,As far as the money goes,,,yes i was refering to the land,,,Lee looking like the parent of a new born was qouted by a newspaper,,,I meant that when a mother gives birth to a child she is absolutly tired taking care of it all day long starting from feeding it,,,to keeping it from crying

@anshu_23… hehehe I absolutely missed the reason for the comparison! Thanks for pointing it out! He sure looked really tired, true.

@anshu : you are most welcome

@jatanr : Lee beyond doubts was Australlian’s only strike bowler. He’s in a rich vane of form and should obviously be a tired bloke by now. He’s been spearheading OZ attack for a long period now. Thats probably why he looks tired

Brett Lee with an equally good supporting bowler, should make a fearsome twosome. The question is, will Australlia find one soon ?
