HE IS BACK
May 14th, 2008 by KrisIt was truly an evening to remember - for a long time. There was so much of controversy surrounding this man that people doubted if he ever could make it to the IPL. And people doubted that even if he did make it to the IPL, would he be the same fearsome bowler that he used to be in the longer version of the games? And so many other questions.
The evening came. The man came. He charged in. He delivered.
For long people have been saying that T20 is a batsman’s game and bowlers just don’t stand a chance and all that. Right now, four bowlers have just disproved that theory. And that too, three of them are old war horses. Shaun Pollock, Glenn McGrath, and Shane Warne. One look at their figures and you can understand what I’m saying.
And yesterday, Shoaib proved why he is what he is. It’s not just about bowling. It’s about raw pace. It’s about attitude. It’s about making the batsmen doubt their shot selection. It’s about that ‘oh; even if you hit me for four boundaries in a row, I can get a wicket the next ball’ kind of confidence.
He had it all. Thanks Shoaib. It’s been a while.

kris, Could not agree with you more. I watched Shoaib’s spell too. It was tremendous. The best part about the situation was all the various environmental factors and the setting. It was Eden Gardens rooting for Shoaib with the Rawalpindi Express bowling flat-out……
